Sarabeth Balon
Sarabeth Balon is the owner of Lonestar Dance Studio. She established her studio following graduation in 2004. She felt called to teach dance and to relay her passion for dance to her students. Her efforts hope to give kids something that instills poise and confidence. During the course of the past four years, Sarabeth has established herself as an instructor and director. She hopes for continued success as she approaches new venues in regards to dance.

She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, where she attained a Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies. She is also certified in Business Foundations. She brings a unique style and fresh approach to dance with original choreography and a positive attitude in learning.

She has studied and trained extensively in various types of dance since 1983. Sarabeth danced competitively in the Dallas/ Ft. Worth metroplex, where she began as a student and advanced to an instructor at Kendyl's Dance Academy in Bedford, TX. Here she studied under Kari Anderson and Kendyl Babcock. Prior to Kendyl's Dance Academy, she was a member of Doubletake Dance Studio under the direction of Paula Stevens. Throughout high school she was very involved in dance. She was a member of the L.D. Bell High School Raiderettes Drill Team from 1998-2000, serving as a lieutenant her final year.

In college she became the captain of the University of Texas Pom Squad, a prestigious and elite dance team. As captain of the team she was in charge of the logistics and planning of the practices and performances. Her ultimate goal was to establish a vision of the future for the team and set the necessary steps along the way to pave the path to that goal. During her reign as team captain, she achieved this goal as the Texas Pom Squad became a supportive team with a professional community appearance. During the last five years she has contracted as a choreographer for dance and drill teams across Texas including the Leander Blue Belles and Pflugerville Lady Panthers Dance Team. Her choreography has received many accolades.

During the summer 2004, she acted as the assistant coach to the Texas Pom Squad for the University of Texas at Austin. She continues to dance competitively and will be an excellent leader in making Lonestar Dance a successful venture.

We are thankful to have her in our faculty and love the inspiration and positive approach that she brings to the table.

Laura Turner (Theatre)
Laura Turner was raised in the small town of Somerville, Tennessee.  From an early age, Laura found herself acting out songs, dancing, and making theatre in her room for her parents and her friends.  As an only child, Laura also learned to entertain herself by writing, drawing, and playing with puppets.

Laura received her BA in English in 2005 from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, graduating magna cum laude with honors.  She then moved all the way across the country to attend the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.  There, she received her Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Arts, with concentration in Playwriting, in May of 2008.  She taught two undergraduate theatre courses each semester for three years as part of her graduate fellowship, and grew to love teaching and the exchange of ideas between student and instructor.

While in Las Vegas, Laura accrued many experiences in professional theatre, including having her work presented at the Kennedy Center's American College Theatre Festival Summer Playwriting Intensive in Washington, D.C.  Her original plays have been seen and heard in Tennessee, Nevada, California, Alaska, and Nebraska.

Laura will head the new theatre and performing arts program at Lonestar Dance.  Laura's love of teaching and passion for theatre will, she hopes, ignite the creative spirit in her young students.  She can't wait to introduce them to the exciting worlds of acting and music!

Eli Garza

Eli Garza is from Rockwall, Texas and a recent graduate from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor degree in Spanish. He is pursuing a graduate level program in psychology.

He began dancing at a young age with his mother on the kitchen floor and didn’t think much of it until he began high school and noticed that he was a standout on the dance floor.

It didn’t take long for his friends to notice that he was well liked by the dance team and cheerleaders as he performed with them at various programs, often times as a dance partner. In addition, while in college he found himself teaching some Texas Pom girls and Texas Cheerleaders how to ballroom dance.

While in college, Eli also took a ballroom dancing class as a student and after finishing his second week of dancing his professor asked if he would consider being a teacher assistant for her class. She enjoyed his positive energy and ability to help others learn their dance steps. She also encouraged Eli to compete against other universities in a ballroom dance competition. Up against seasoned dancers he placed third in his division even though he was placed in a different style of dance. His passion for dancing has always allowed him to gravitate towards the fun and social dancing crowd. Teaching ballroom dancing while in college has always brought him joy and he is looking forward to finding other opportunities to help others standout on the dance floor.
